Monoprint making at the Bluegrass Printmakers Cooperative

If you want to do a monotype print. Let your paper soak. You want to use cotton rag paper. You want to use thick paper. At least 90 lb and 220 gms or more paper. I like bfk rives and canson edition.

Time lapse of me making the monotype printmaking plate.
Press down real hard and use lyra watercolor crayons. Then once you make your image onto the plexiglass plate you can pull it through the press. I like to make little white markings to crop where you can print the card
Getting the print ready to be put on the press.  You can also use a spoon to rub it.
Then you put it on the printing press. Then you pull it through the press. OR you can use a spoon and rub on it to make the impression.

Then you wipe the plate clean!  You can just use baby wipes or a paper towel and soap and water or a towel.  It cleans up rather quickly and easily!
